- the systematic assignment of goods to a standardized classification scheme for the purposes of customs, trade statistics, transport, and regulatory compliance
Anmärkning
- In international trade, the most common scheme is the Harmonized System (HS) maintained by the World Customs Organization, but other schemes exist (e.g., Combined Nomenclature in the EU, SITC, UNSPSC, CPV). Classification supports tariff determination, trade statistics, risk assessment, and regulatory controls.
