Definition
- a contract under which a carrier (or forwarder) undertakes, for reward, to receive, carry, and deliver goods for a consignor to a consignee, subject to applicable legal regimes and standard conditions of carriage
Anmärkning
- The transport contract is often evidenced by a transport document (e.g., bill of lading, air waybill, CMR/CIM consignment note). The contract may incorporate statutory or conventional regimes (e.g., Hague-Visby, Montreal, CMR) and the carrier’s standard terms.
