Definition
  • a regulatory category (I, II, III) indicating the degree of danger presented by certain dangerous goods: I = high danger, II = medium danger, III = low danger
Note
  • Packing group assignment is determined by regulatory test criteria in the UN Model Regulations and related instruments (IATA DGR, IMDG Code, ADR/RID). Examples: For flammable liquids, classification is based on flash point and initial boiling point; for toxic substances, on acute toxicity values (LD₅₀/LC₅₀); for corrosives, on skin/metal corrosion tests. PG I = high danger, PG II = medium danger, PG III = low danger.
