Definition
- merkkijonosta muodostuva tunnus, joka yksikäsitteisesti yksilöi tietyn verkkoresurssin noudattaen sovittua syntaksia ja kattaa URI-tunnusta laajemman merkkivalikoiman
- a global identifier in the context of the World Wide Web which builds on the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) protocol by expanding the set of permitted characters
Note
- IRI-tunnistetta käytetään tyypillisesti World Wide Webin verkkoresurssien yksilöimisessä.
- A string of characters that unambiguously identifies a particular resource. To guarantee uniformity, all IRIs follow a predefined set of syntax rules, but also maintain extensibility through a separately defined hierarchical naming scheme.
- While URIs are limited to a subset of the US-ASCII character set (characters outside that set must be mapped to octets according to some unspecified character encoding, then percent-encoded), IRIs may additionally contain most characters from the Universal Character Set, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Cyrillic characters.
